Long Distance Walkers Association  Their website has a datbase of walks. Mnay of these walks have stages which may interest walkers who prefer shorter walks.

Rochdale Field Naturalists Rochdale Field Naturalists run monthly coach trips to places of natural interest throughout the North West and you don't need to be a member to go along. You are also free to do your own thing as long as you are back by leaving time. Trips are usually a chance to take a leisurely walk of about 5 miles. Payment is on the day but booking is essential.
